Lessons to be learnt..those christian cults springing up everywhere in America?

I think you are right, these cults do not help the true Christian faith. I don't think it is always down to the cult leader though. I think the followers too have to take some responsibility. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to read the bible and start seeing big holes in their theology......it seems that people enjoy being lead by the nose regardless of what is taught. I find it scary to know that the average Christian these days can't even explain what the gospel is !!! They think the gospel is some mystical entity that's really hard to get your head around. I have even met ministers with university degrees who struggle to explain it simply........I really don't know what's happening in the Christian world.....it bears absolutely no resemble to the church described in Acts and the rest of the New Testament
