What should I do with my hair?

I got this crazy idea od dying it sandy blonde-ish today; I don't know where it came from or why but yeah. My only problem is would it make me look even paler? I'm not SUPER pale but I'm not tan, I have blue eyes, and freckles if that helps anything. As of now my hair is a mid-brown color. So help me out here. Should I go darker, lighter, or stay the same?
